Special guest for the event is SIR TIM RICE, the lyricist of the show and other shows such as EVITA, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, AIDA, etc. He achieved world fame in the early 70s when he and SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER wrote JOSEPH, SUPERSTAR & EVITA. Rice later achieved fame winning three Oscars for his lyrics of the Disney film ALADDIN ("A Whole New World" with music by Alan Menken); THE LION KING ("You Can Feel the Love Tonight" with music by Elton John), and a song added to the original score for the film EVITA ("You Must Love Me" with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber) sung by Madonna.
If you have ever sung in your shower "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", "I Don't know How to Love Him", "The Circle of Life", etc., you have sung the lyrics of Tim Rice.
Tickets will go on sale next month. Watch for newspapers announcements. The opening night is by invitation only. SUPERSTAR will run May 26 - June 5, 2005, dark on Monday night.
The show has a complement of approximately 80 talented artists and musicians and stars JUAN CARLOS ADAMES as "Jesus", LUIS ARTEAGA as "Judas", JANELLE DAVIDSON as "Mary Magdalene", RICARDO RISCO as "Caiphus" MIGUEL CUADRAS as "Pilate", EDWIN CEDENO as "Herod", JOSÉ CASIS as "Anas", and a brilliant cast directed by BRUCE QUINN, music directed by DINO NUGENT, and choreography by MELINA SAMANIEGO. CHARLES BRANNAN is the costume designer and BRUCE QUINN & JR DISEÑOS designed and built the set. Make-up is by HANNIA WOODMAN and lighting design will be done by one of the leading theatrical lighting designers in the world and former resident of Panama RICK BELZER. LUBA MASON a Broadway actress served as voice consultant of this mega project.
