That is the restaurant district between Balboa Avenue and Calle 50. Last night I decided to try "La Posta" on the recommendations of friends. It was exceptional. I must say that the locale, the presentation, the atmosphere, the food, the table service,,,,,, everything about this place was exceptionally good. The price.... not the most expensive in town, but definitely on the upper end of the line. It was well worth every penny we paid.
I had fried breaded scallops on kabobs(2 scallops on each of 4 kabobs) with a tangy mustard, oriental sauce..... one of the most flavorable and tasty treats I have ever had ($6.95). Then I had a 2 1/2lb grilled lobster with butter.... that was expensive, but I wanted to treat myself to something I enjoy very much,,,,,,, again, very well done. The lobster had just arrived that morning from the Islands and I was able to select my lobster.
My companion had langostinos in sauce on patacon (fried green plantain) as an appetizer ($8.00) and as his main dish beef tenderloin medallions in a cream sauce,,,,($12.00). The bottle of wine was good, and priced correctly. The bread was freshly home made crunchy toasted sourdough bread. Our meal before tip was $81 for two persons including wine, and we had some of the more expensive items on the menu. We were constantly being attended to by several waiters and the manager and owner of the restaurant.
Attire for the restaurant,,,, like most nice restaurants here in Panama....... nice casual dress clothes..... no jeans, no sneakers, no tank tops, no shorts, no flipflops, no sandals. Coat and tie was worn by only a few men. It is an elegant place, and people were dressed for the occasion.
After the pleasant evening, when I told the owner to give me his card that I wanted to post on several sites of the excellence of this new restaurant he told me he would prefer if I were very selective in whom I told about the restaurant as right now they were at capacity. That in itself is a good sign. Hope this helps you enjoy another pleasant evening in Paradise. charly
