The primary dentists on our staff regularly work together to provide a complete spectrum of patient care. Seen here in one of our frequent discussions of a particular patient care treatment plan are (from left to right) Dr. Charly Garcia, Dr. Jesus Ruiz (Endodontist), Dr. JeanMarie Guardia Zeimetz, Dr. Pascuale Calvosa (Prosthodontist), and clinic owner and administrator, Dr. Fernando Gonzalez. The doctors on our staff cover a wide range of specialties and are exceptionally qualified.

There are twelve dentists who work as a team in our dental practice group. Between us we have more than 170 years of combined experience. Our dentists cover all specialties in dentistry such as orthodontics (straightening of teeth), oral and maxillofacial surgery, pedodontics (treatment for children), periodontics (treatment of gum disease, implants), prosthodontics (replacement of missing teeth by prostheses such as dentures, bridges and dental implants), operative dentistry (restoration of existing teeth), endodontics (root canal therapy), dental public health (study of dental epidemiology and social health policies), maxillofacial pain specialist, and forensic odontology (gathering and use of dental evidence in law).

Dr. JeanMarie Guardia Zeimetz is working on a patient in this photo, assisted by one of our professionally trained dental assistants, Lilly. Several of the dentists in our group are licensed to practice in the United States. We use the highest standards of care available and all of our dentists regularly attend seminars and training to stay abreast of the most recent advances in dentistry. We place heavy emphasis on the use and application of OSHA standards of sterilization, and infection and quality control as specified by the Center for Disease Control.

Simply stated, it is our goal to become known as the best and highest quality dental practice in the Republic of Panama at an affordable price. Our office staff is very familiar with use of Dental Insurance Claim Forms from many different insurance providers. The 15% discount afforded by Panamanian law to those in a retired (jubilado-pensionado) status is automatically given to any legal resident qualifying for the benefits.

By way of comparison, our prices range between 30% to 50% less for identical services provided in the USA. This price differential has caused an increase in what we call "dental tourism." You can have your dental work done while visiting Panama as a tourist and take advantage of the reduced costs.

We are considered among the leaders in Panama in Cosmetic Dentistry. Our team of dentists offer specialized dental treatments such as porcelain veneers, tooth replacement, implants, tooth whitening, cosmetic resin reconstruction, crowns, caps and bridges all provided in a relaxed, comfortable and stress free environment. We are committed to providing the finest personal cosmetic care that is possible to our patients. We use the most advanced techniques available to provide the most effective means of correcting each individuals problems. Our aim is to provide the very best in cosmetic dentistry, and our technical and artistic standards are second to none.

We believe you should be able to choose the smile you've always wanted. We are able to achieve this for you using the very latest technology, often imported from the States. The specialists in cosmetic dentistry are able to straighten teeth, close gaps and reshape teeth using porcelain laminate veneers. Tooth whitening is achieved using some of the latest bleaching techniques of some of the more important Dental Houses in the World including the USA. These include "laser" whitening (white light power whitening) and home whitening treatments. Teeth can also be made whiter by using veneers.

Our dentists are dedicated to excellence in cosmetic dentistry and have many years of experience in this field with extensive portfolios of before and after photos of their actual treatments. They keep up to date with all advances that come from the USA. We are dedicated to providing a new smile for you that will last. Together we make sure that we give you a smile that is the best available, while keeping your teeth and oral tissue healthy and advise you on your future health care needs and visits.

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry specialising in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities in children and adults in order to achieve improved appearance and better function. The technical term for orthodontic problems is malocclusion, which simply means bad bite. The science of orthodontics is concerned with genetic variation, development and growth of the facial tissues, and the manner in which these factors influence the bite and alignment of the teeth, as well as the health of their associated organs.

The practice of orthodontics requires professional skill in the diagnosis and identification of facial disharmony and dental abnormality; as well as the design, application and control of a wide range of corrective appliances or braces that can bring teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment and achieve facial balance for a lifetime of beautiful healthy smiles.

It has been proven that improvements in personal appearance contribute to greater mental and physical well-being. Creating a beautiful smile through orthodontics is a reliable way of improving the health of your teeth as well as your self-esteem. In this way, orthodontic treatment can benefit social and career success, as well as improve one's general attitude toward life.

If left untreated, crooked teeth could lead to an improper bite, tooth wear, tooth injury and even tooth decay and gum disease. Crooked teeth can also lead to a decrease in one's personal self-confidence. Treatment by a specialist orthodontist to correct the original problem is often less costly than the additional dental care required to treat more serious problems that can develop in later years.

We take great pride in the supreme level of training, professionalism, and skill of our auxillary staff. We screen and hire the best experienced dental assistants available in the Republic of Panama. As dentists we rely heavily on our assistants to provide quality care to our patients, and we know that they are a critical link and primary members of our tram. In this photo Aixa, Lilly, Dayana & Yariela are showing off their best smiles for the camera. They represent a part of our auxillary staff.

There are several things we can do to help alleviate dental discomfort. When necessary for very nervous patients, it is possible to provide oral conscious sedation. Pills are given to take the edge off but only when required and only by prescription. We commonly use topical anesthetics. These medicines are applied with swab to numb the oral mucosa before injectable anesthetic is administered. General anesthesia renders a patient fully unconscious and is reserved for people with severe anxiety or those requiring extensive dental surgery, often used with children. If this is necessary we have anesthethists and or anesthesiologists available to assist. But the best way to alleviate anxiety by the patient is to have a calm, caring, understanding staff to assist you.

These are some suggestions we can make to help you get over your dental anxiety. Make sure to tell our staff about your reservations so we can bring them into the open to help us tailor your treatment to your needs. Prearrange a signal ahead of time, like raising your hand, to indicate your are needing a break. Our staff will fully explain each procedure, so you know what's happening. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Don't cross your legs while receiving treatment. We will show you what the handpiece sounds like before the procedure begins. Our experience is that after the first visit the anxious patient is usally ready to trust the dentist and much of the anxiety is gone.

You can relax and listen to music during your procedure using headphones you can bring in or ask us if available. Try to eat a light meal the day of your appointment. Try to eat high protein foods (which produce a calming effect) and avoid sugary foods which might make you even more nervous. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine before a dental appointment to help make your less anxious. Also, try to schedule your visit for a time when you won't be rushed.

The clinic is owned and administered by Dr. Fernando Gonzalez seen here seated. Standing from left to right are Dr. Pascuale Calvosa, Prosthodontist; Dr. Mario Chalhoub, Periodontist; Dr. JeanMarie Guardia Zeimetz, General Dentist; & Dr. Charles Garcia, General Dentist.

In this photo Lilly, Yariela and Gustavo are working in the sterilization area. Several members of our professional staff are US trained or US licensed practitioners. Some are instructors in the various dental schools in Panama. All staff members oversee that the current OSHA standards of Infection Control, Sterilization, and Quality Control are strictly adhered to. Peer review and staff meetings to discuss the more difficult cases to promote optinum treatment plans are routine. The entire professional staff is fluent in both English and Spanish, and some French, German, Italian & Portuguese are spoken.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and the local ATM card (Clave) as well as personal local, US checks, and cash as means of payment. Payments plans can be discussed and we will try to accomodate your individual needs. We are proficient in filling out and helping you submit all dental insurance forms. Our prices are 30% to 50% less expensive than in most dental clinics in USA, and less expensive than many other dental clinics here in Panama. Those legal residents of Panama that have obtained a pensionado/jubilado visa are entitled to the 15% discount on dental services. All legal residents of Panama qualify for the same 15% discount if they meet the age requirements of 55 years of age if female and 60 years of age if male.

The office is centrally located on Balboa Avenue, at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and Calle Aquilino de la Guardia in the "Galeria Balboa." There is ample parking available in front of and at the side of the building. Security in the area is excellent, and there is always a security guard watching over the parking lot.
