Pee-Wee football team from Panama travels to US

Sports SectionAbout 50 pee-wee football players swept into town for an international series of games between two teams from the Latin American nation of Panama and the Norristown Bandits. They called it the Pan-Am Bowl. "It was a great experience for both sides," said Alex DiNolfi, who, along with others, had the vision to accept an offer posted on an Internet message board from Panamanian coach John Carbone to host an international game. The team from Panama, called the Marlins, swept into town with an entourage of more than 150 parents and players. This was the first year children that young, from ages 8 to 12, played full-contact football. "Before the end of the season," said Ramone Maduro, a parent on Panama's organizing committee, "the coach thought it would be a good idea for the kids to see how other kids played and to learn from them."
