"El Parkin" - Paintball, Soccer, and Billards
A new option for keeping the kids happy opened up recently in Panama City. It's called "El Parkin" and it's located in the parking garage of the Multicento Shopping Mall in Paitilla on level 2B. They have a paintball court with state of the art markers, supplies, and equipment, three indoor soccer courts (where it never rains) as well as pool tables, sodas and snacks. It's a great place to spend the day.
The best part about "El Parkin" is that it's right in the middle of the city. The Multicentro had a lot of space they didn't need for cars, so they came up with the idea of putting it to use for recreation. So far, it's been a big hit.

You know, there's just nothing like getting shot in the face by a paintball doing about 190 feet per second. Your world turns yellow, and it's kinda impressive. I got hit on the top of the head (thump) and it smarted, but not that bad.

These guys were having fun. If you've never played paintball you don't know what you're missing. The balls are moving pretty fast, and they can leave a good bruise if you take a solid hit in an area with little padding. The guys who run the place are very strict about making the players wear their protective gear, and no one can be on the court with any exposed skin. You learn pretty quick to move, duck, and cover. Bring extra padding.

"El Parking" held their official opening last Tuesday. That's Hector (one of the owners) surrounded by the"Pepsi Girls." Wave to your wife, Hector... (just kidding)

In reality, the "Pepsi Girls" were more interested in the group of young guys who were covered from head to toe in paint, sweat, and dust from the paintball wars. Like this guy...

But "El Parkin" is more than just paintball. There's a whole crowd of kids that go there every day just to play indoor soccer.

The courts are pretty cool, made from plywood, netting, and astroturf. They play four-on-four with no goalie, and the speed of the game is impressive. The ball can't go out of bounds, so it's non-stop action.

There are also two pool tables, paid by the hour.

There's also this really cool pickup truck parked out back... <grin>

And the guys from "Parece Noticias" were there filming. Fun stuff.
So, check out "El Parkin" for a place to have a great time. Just remember to bring an extra pair of socks...
