Ten 40-ft containers of clothes and footwear have been sent from Taiwan to Panama's indigenous people recently, Hou said, adding that altogether, the ROC government will be making relief donations topping 45 40-ft containers this year to needy children and families in Panama.
Most of these donations are made via the Office of the Panamanian First Lady, Hou noted.
Noting that Taiwan-Panama ties are better than ever, Hou said officials of the two countries will engage in trade talks shortly, mainly on Taiwan's imports of beef and related products from Panama.
Hou said that Taiwan imported US$3 million worth of beef and related products in 2005, a volume expected to be increased next year. Taiwan is also discussing importing chicken meat from Panama, he added.
