American Couple Lost Near Potrerillos

Expat Tales By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Panamanian authorities from the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC), firemen from Dolega, units of the National Police and volunteers have been searching the mountains near Potrerillos Arriba in search of an American couple that has been missing since Sunday night. On Sunday firemen in Dolega received a cell phone call from the man, a retired US Army Sergeant, who said that he and his wife had an accident while riding their "4-wheel" All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). He said that his wife had been killed in the accident and that he was seriously injured, and described his location as being near Potrerillos Arriba in the area where authorities are planning to build a road from Boquete to Volcan. Still Searching: Police, fire, and SINAPROC have been searching for the missing couple all week with no success. Yesterday and today authorites have been using a helicopter to help in the search. Ground units have been combing areas where the couple could be, concentrating on wooded areas that can not be seen from the air.
