Living In Panama City is a new 'boutique realty' company, formed to serve those clients with a discerning eye for value in the booming real estate market in Panama. During our own search for properties in Panama, we realized how difficult it is to find good value, especially in Panama city. The number of projects in preconstruction and under construction alone is overwhelming, especially in Panama City. Without a MLS system in Panama, a purchase becomes a monumental task. What many North Americans do not know, is that there is also no exclusivity in Panama for listings, so one property may be listed several times with several different companies or individual agents at different prices. If one is planning to resell their Panama property in a short time frame, this also becomes challenging without an MLS system. Our commitment to our clients is to provide them with an agent that will be with them throughout the process of buying and reselling, if so desired. Jim and Donna Hawley: Jim and Donna Hawley, first visited Panama in July 2004. In five days, they committed to buy two properties in Panama and returned to Minnesota, a bit overwhelmed by their trip. They then decided after a week of discussions, that they would relocate to Panama and live their dream to live outside of North America. This was prompted by the rising cost of living in North America, as well as a desire for adventure. Donna relocated first to Panama City, while Jim kept working in their optical distribution business in the Midwestern states. Donna started a t-shirt company, Panama Sol (www.panamasol.com) with a contest for Panamanian children to draw the Kuna, the Panama Canal, etc. and put the winning designs on t-shirts that are still sold in select gift shops. She then did some consulting for an American developer in Panama, and opened a Surf Shop in Bocas del Toro. Jim arrived in Panama to take on the GM duties at a four star resort in the Pearl Islands, a short flight from Panama City, while Donna began selling real estate in Panama City for a well known Panama developer as their first international agent. With no phone or internet on the island, Jim relocated to Panama City and they were offered the opportunity to be responsible for the sales at a multimillion dollar project in the Pacific Beach area of Panama, 65 miles from Panama City. They again were approached by a local group of investors to jumpstart the sales at a new development in the Pacific Beach area. Jim is currently the Master Broker for an exclusive Pacific Beach development - Bijao on the Pacific Coast of Panama--see 'Beaches' section, and Donna is the Panama City-mountain sales consultant. They have two daughters, Brooke and Kea. Brooke lives in Panama with her significant other, Darnell Edwards, and their nine month old son, Jayden, who was born in Panama City. Kea lives in Toledo, Ohio where she works for Risk Solutions International as a Risk Analyst for Terrorism in American schools and trauma centers. Kea also moonlights as an amateur boxer.
Brooke Hawley and Darnell Edwards: In July of 2006, Brooke, left her position as Marketing Director at an international optical distribution company in Minneapolis to relocate to Panama and to work with Panama Sol Properties as the Marketing Director. Brooke produces the newsletters and writes the text for brochures, and all of the marketing materials. Brooke was born in Vancouver, B.C., and grew up in Minnesota from age six. Her 'significant other', Darnell Edwards, retired from the Canadian Professional Football League and also joined the Panama Sol Properties sales team. Their son, Jayden, was born on Sept. 18th here in Panama, and boasts citizenship in three countries--Canada, the USA, and Panama. Darnell was born and raised in Montreal Canada, played his entire football career as Safety with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. He speaks French and English and is part of the Bijao Sales Team, on the Pacific Coast of Panama.
Tatiana Rodriguez Arias: Tatiana grew up in Panama City, Panama. After graduating from high school, Tatiana relocated to the USA where she attended the University of South Mississippi. Upon completion of her Bachelors degree, she studied to be a registered dental hygienist. Tatiana worked as a dental hygienist until 2001, when she returned to Panama on a three month vacation and decided to stay, beginning a new career in real estate. She began as a real estate consultant for a well known real estate company and after two years was offered the opportunity to work as a commercial director with a local developer. In 2006, Tatiana became a licensed real estate agent and has been working independently. This year, she and Donna Hawley are joining knowledge and experience to start this new venture, ‘Living in Panama City", Panama's only ‘boutique realty'.
