González said that now the decision is in his hands but that he will let "the waters recede and with no type of pressure," evaluate the situation considering what best benefits the country, without allowing for it to affect the Free Trade Agreement with the United States. "I have been the one who has made errors in all of this, I take all of the responsibility," said González, but added that it would be unjust that if the relations between the United States and Panama are affected by his designation as the President of the National Assembly. EL PRESIDENTE de la Asamblea, Pedro Miguel González, volvió a dejar abierta la posibilidad a una renuncia al cargo, tras señalar que "luego de que las aguas regresen a su nivel, tomaré una decisión al respecto".
González expresó que ahora la decisión está en sus manos, pero que dejará "que las aguas regresen y sin ningún tipo de presiones", evaluará la situación sobre lo que más le conviene al país, sin que ello afecte el TLC con los Estados Unidos.
"El que si ha cometido errores en todo esto he sido yo, yo asumo la responsabilidad", dijo González, pero agregó que sería injusto que por su designación como presidente de ese Órgano del Estado, se vean afectadas las relaciones con Estados Unidos.
