Photos and Text By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Early this morning at about 3:30 am someone came out of the Hard Rock Cafe in Marbella shooting. Apparently an argument carried over from inside of the club, and someone went to their car and pulled out a 9mm pistol. "I heard about 25 shots total, women screaming, it sounded like a war zone," said an area resident who was awoken by the gunfire. A security guard who was working in the area said the guy who was shooting came out of the club, and was shooting at several different people. "He was very nervious. He emptied his first clip, reloaded, and kept shooting." According to the police officer in charge at the Bella Vista station, apparently no one was injured and everyone scattered before the police could arrive. But, the entire event occurred basically between two of those new CCTV police secutiry cameras so the entire event should have been caught on tape. So far no one has been arrested and police are investigating. (more - photos)
Between Two CCTV Police Security Cameras
Better Ask For A Refund: One of the store owners who had three bullets shatter the glass front of his store said that "if the police can't catch the shooter, then they better ask for their money back." The shooting took place exactly between two of the new CCTV security cameras recently installed by the National Police.
There was one live 9mm round on the ground in front of a shop called "Next". According to a security guard witness, the shooter was running from right to left in this photo as he was shooting, and he apparently ejected this live round as he changed clips.
Store owners came to work this morning to find many of them had shattered windows, broken by the bullets fired last night. In this photo they are waiting for police investigators to return to recover bullet fragments from inside of their shops.
Police officer showing the spent casings and bullet fragments they have recovered so far. There were about 25 rounds fired in total.
The weapon used was a 9mm luger semi-automatic. Police are hoping to recover an intact spent bullet from inside the stores to be able to identify the owner of the weapon used in the shooting.
This CCTV police security camera is located exactly in front of the Burger King restaurant in Marbella and had the best view of the event. There was another camera one block away on the corner in front of the Filipe Motta store, but trees probably blocked the view.
