SINAPROC Getting Spun Up for Carnival

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Panama's National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) has established command posts they will man during the upcoming Carnival celebrations. Their primary location will be on Transístmica in front of the La Salle school. Another will be established in Aguadulce in the province of Coclé. SINAPROC will have command posts and a presence in every province of the nation during Carnival 2008. The SINAPROC Command Posts will be manned 24 hours a day during the carnival celebrations. Dr. Roberto Velásquez Abood, the General Director fo SINAPROC, said they will have approximately 545 personnel deployed in different parts of the country who will be providing first aid and water security. More than 180 lifeguards from the SINAPROC and the Red Cross will be working at beaches and rivers. To report an emergency to SINAPROC dial *335 from any telephone.
