Another Victim of DEG Poisoning Died This Week

Healthcare By Ana Teresa Benjamín for La Prensa - Salvador Broce, one of the victims poisoned by the consumption of medicines tainted with diethylene glycol (DEG), died last Monday according to family members. Investigations conducted by the Institute of Legal Medicine indicate that 115 people have died as a direct result of having ingested the contaminated medicines. A group of relatives and family members of people affected by the DEG contaminated medicines protested yesterday, demanding the accurate counting and recognition of all of those who were affected. About 40 people closed Central Avenue near the Euro Hotel for an hour and a half, and as part of their protest they recognized a minute of silence in recognition of the death of Broce. Family members and those affected by the medicines contaminated with DEG that were produced by the Office of Social Security are complaining of inadequate medical attention. Medical authorities say they are meeting the needs and medical requirements of the victims.
