By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Eric Jackson and The Panama News obtained criminal records from Colorado on Mark Emery Boswell (aka Rex Freeman) showing four arrests and a felony conviction for (what looks like) impersonation and passing bad checks from 1995. The record from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation reflects primarily arrests as well as what looks like an 18 month prison sentence but it's not clear if that was actually time served. This is a law enforcement record and not a court record, which is usually clearer with regards to things like bail, time served, fines, or probation. In other words Mark Boswell was arrested and charged, but I'm not sure (from the records made available by Eric Jackson) if he was actually convicted or incarcerated. From the records made available, it's impossible to tell. (more)

Eric Is Investigating This Stuff: Mark Boswell, now going by the name "Rex Freeman," has lived in both Costa Rica and Panama. I met him at the Veneto Casino one night, and obviously was interested in his history because he has sued Eric Jackson for slander and defamation. Mark Boswell (aka Rex Freeman) now teaches people how to trade Forex online in Panama.

Not On One Side or the Other: I opened up Panama-Guide to allow Mark Boswell (Rex Freeman) a platform to respond to Eric Jackson. Eric's website is widely read and he has a tendency to only "cover" one side of any story or situation. Conversely, I understand it's important to at the very least be aware of both sides of the issues or the cases as presented by all those involved, and then to step back and let the courts sort it out. Personally, I barely know Mark Boswell (Rex Freeman). I've met him personally exactly once, we've spoken on the phone several times, and have exchanged emails.

Skeletons in the Closet: Does this rap sheet of arrests from Colorado represent some kind of a smoking gun? I'm sure they do for Eric Jackson. Eric will now (of course) hold up this 13 year-old rap sheet and scream "I told you so." There are a lot of people out there who have made a mistake, did their time, paid their fine (or whatever), and are now trying to move on. That's why it's called a "correction" system - sometimes it actually works out that way.

Scammer? Fraud Artist? So far I have been contacted by two former employees of Mark Boswell who worked for him in Costa Rica, and from what I can tell they were simply trying to suck some money out of him. When I first looked into Mark Boswell I asked anyone out there who might have been actually ripped off by him or lost money due to his actions to please contact me. On the contrary, what I received was a flood of emails in support. In Eric's world this makes me and "apologist." I'm not apologizing for anyone. In fact, if Eric was doing his job I would not have to cover the "other side" of the story for him, or allow Mark Boswell (Rex Freeman) a place to tell his version of events.

The Costa Rica Version of Eric Jackson: There's apparently another guy in Costa Rica who does the same smear kind of reporting as Eric Jackson who has been hounding Mark Boswell for years. He and Eric have teamed up and have been riding him as hard as they can. And of course they have damaged his business. The problem Eric has is that now Mark Boswell (Rex Freeman) apparently is not doing anything wrong, ripping anyone off, stealing, defrauding anyone, or taking anyone's money, at least as far as I can tell. He's just trying to run his business. And that's why Boswell is pissed off and filing criminal complaints against Eric Jackson.

Works For Me Either Way: Eric Jackson calls Mark Boswell the "financial columnist for Panama Guide" which is simply absurd. The only thing I did was open up the door to allow Mark Boswell a little equal time in the face of Eric Jackson's onslaught. In reality the "truth is the truth" and the "facts are the facts." Now apparently Mark Boswell has some old arrests in Colorado. Go Eric... three points for the Panama News. Having fun yet?

A Call In To Mark Boswell: I just put a call in to Mark Boswell and asked him to call me back. I told him "Eric Jackson just published your convictions in Colorado from 1994 and 1995. Call me now please." I want to ask him about what happened. So far, he has not called back, but it's only been a few minutes. When (and if) he calls, I'll let you know what he says. The door is still open to the other side of the story here - old arrests or no. I also went to the woman's prison and interviewed Debra Ann Ridgley five times until her story started to repeat itself. I'll listen to anyone.

Predictably, Ornstein Piles On: Thanks, Ornstein - he just provided me with more for my criminal slander and defamation complaint which will be filed against Ornstein on Monday morning. He just published:

Is It Just Me? I missed the humor, comedy, satire, or spoof in that article. The only thing that jumped out at me was the part where Ornstein slandered my character (again.) Whatever. One man's "spoof" is another man's "evidence." And so it goes. Boring bullshit, total waste of time, and completely worthless. Whatever. My dog drinks out of the toilet sometimes and I don't like that either but he seems to think it's cool...

A Voice Of Reason: Susan Guberman-Garcia and I have knocked heads in the past, primarily over her apparent inability to recognize and chastise Ornstein's criminally slanderous attacks against Clyde Jenkins - Ornstein called Jenkins a pedophile without any proof or evidence, and based on a rumor he received over a telephone call from Jerry Hall (and nothing else.) But in this case she commented: "The mere fact that he uses an alias to market himself and conduct business would be troubling enough even without the criminal record you have uncovered (assuming its the same guy....) When you are selling financial expertise, your identity - who you are - and all that goes with it is a part of the package. The idea of someone selling such services under an alias is a big red flag." Susan, I concur completely.
