Another Helicopter Crash - This one at Albrook

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - An Aerospatiale Alouette III 319B helicopter, registration HP-0014HC, owned by the Helipan Corporation and being flown by the owner and General Manager Thomas Exenberger crashed on the Echo taxiway of the Marcos A. Gelabert International Airport this afternoon. Thankfully, pilot Thomas Exenberger and the four passengers all walked away from the accident and were uninjured. Founded in 1993, Helipan Corporation is Panama's only certified helicopter flight school. The cause of the accident is unknown. Update: The Panamanian Civil Aviation Authority just issued a press release: (more) According to the Panamanian Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), a helicopter with registration number HP-0014HC, model Eulette III (sic), suffered an accident when landing on runway 36 at the Marcos A. Gelabert Airport at 12:51 pm. The helicopter complied with a flight plan as filed from Buena Ventura in the sector of Río Hato in the district of Antón with a destination of Albrook with four passengers and the pilot.

The helicopter was being piloted by Captain Tomas Exemberger. The helicopter belongs to the company Helipan Corp and is registered commercially as an aerial taxi. All occupants were unharmed. The Accident Investigation Unit of the AAC is investigating the accident.
