By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Margarita Henríquez, the 17 year-old Panamanian girl from the Los Santos province won the 3rd edition of the wildly popular Latin American Idol show last night. She appeared in the grand finale against Costa Rican singer María José. Fans from all over Latin America watched the show live from Argentina, and then voted for their favorite by sending text messages from their cellular phones. According to the guys who run Net People, the company responsible for managing the voting process, the final tally was "very close." Latin America voted, and they selected Margarita Henríquez as the winner. Of course in Panama the very second the winner was announced fireworks went up all over the city, and a spontaneous street party erupted which lasted until the wee hours of the morning. Police finally moved into the intersection of Calle 50 and Via Brazil at 3:00 am to encourage the last of the revelers to go home. Now, you can expect a "Saladino like" reception, parade, and celebration to receive Margarita Henríquez when she flies back to Panama from Argentina. Congratulations to both Margarita and Panama. Here's a video of her final performance on the show:
