Colombian Sculptor Hector Lombana Dies in Bogota

Panama News By José Otero for La Prensa - The Colombian sculptor Héctor Lombana, 78 years old, who was commissioned by ex president Mireya Moscoso to created the sculpture "Juegos de Antaño", died yesterday in Bogota, reported EFE citing medical and family sources. Lombana died of a heart attack in Santa Marta, where he was to inaugurate this week his work "Homenaje a la etnia Tayrona." Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing investigation in Panama for the theft of the statues created by the sculptor, the Second Anti Corruption Prosecutor ordered the detention of two employees of the Parque Omar recreation area and one agent of the Institutional Protection Service (SPI).

El escultor colombiano Héctor Lombana, de 78 años, autor de la obra Juegos de antaño, murió ayer en Bogotá, informó EFE citando fuentes médicas y familiares.

Lombana falleció de un paro cardiorrespiratorio en Santa Marta, donde iba a inaugurar esta semana su obra Homenaje a la etnia Tayrona.

En tanto, como parte de la investigación que se sigue en Panamá por el hurto de las piezas de la obra del escultor, la Fiscalía Segunda Anticorrupción ordenó la detención de dos funcionarios del Parque Recreativo Omar y de un agente del Servicio de Protección Institucional.
