Bocas del Toro Marina Hearing Canceled Due To Logistical Complications

Foreign Direct Investment

By DON WINNER for - According to a lawyer who is working with the company proposing to build the Harbor of the Americas on Isla Colon in Bocas del Toro, they were forced to cancel the public meeting scheduled for Monday because two of the primary engineers involved in the planning who were supposed to be in attendance could not obtain transportation from Changuinola to Isla Colon. I don't know the specifics, but apparently whatever they had set up fell through and they were basically stranded. Since these two guys were the primary technical people behind the plan, their presence was critical and necessary, and since they could not be there the company made the decision to cancel the hearing and to reschedule for a future date. No word yet as to when that next public hearing will be held. Most importantly, the meeting was not called off simply because La Prensa starting writing about the project, contrary to what they might have you believe.

If these dudes are Panamanian Engineers, they didn't try to hard. I think there is a water taxi near Changanola at Finca 60 that has a boat to Bocas town starting at 08:00 AM. With a boat about every hour. What happened to the look see into this Six Diamonds Resort land grab and disputes. You were hot and heavy on these deals about a year ago. I think at the time you stated that you were going to look into the dealings of these two guys in regards to Bocas and land deals in the area. Haven't heard squat about that.
I see they are using the good neighbor policy by renovating the public park on Third Street, go figure, grease for project approvals. Now it seems like you are now touting what a great project they have in the works, and what we need in Bocas is more development and we need a great sky line like Panama City in the future.
