Panama, EU Set Coop Program
Panama, Feb 11 (Prensa Latina) Panama and the European Union set a 25 million dollar- program of special cooperation, as part of the agenda of Foreign Minister of Panama Samuel Lewis in Brussels (Belgic). According to reports from the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Lewis met with the President of European Commission Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, and EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero. The meeting was to analyze the operations of the government over the temporary suspension for Panamanian exporters of the benefits of the Generalized System of Preferences. Both reported the disposition of funds for an initiative of cooperation. This agreement will allow the government to draw specific projects financed by EU for those areas affected by the temporary suspension.
