Making Software Tweaks and Improvements

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - This one goes into the "pardon our dust" category. Last week I noticed a problem with the software I use to display banner advertisements. One of the blocks was not displaying correctly and I spent about two days trying to trouble-shoot the problem using the existing software. When it became apparent I could not fix the problem using the old software, I decided to upgrade the program to the most recent release. Implementing the upgrade caused another trickle-down problem. I've been using this same program for about five years and it's been upgraded several times. But, the original database was created using the five-year-old version of the software. And, this new and most recent version was unable to use the old database. Anyway, no problem. I just decided to get a good copy of the new software running and then I would reload the banners. I didn't expect that to be much of a problem because there weren't that many running. And then my son got sick... Anyway, I am now getting the banners squared away again and once it's all done and finished then I'll be where I wanted to in the first place. It just took longer than expected. Whatever - I just keep kicking the can down the road, whistling a happy tune...
