Mike Perham Will Transit Panama Canal Tomorrow

Boats and Sailing
Mike Perham in Panama
Mike Perham in Panama
By DON WINNER for - Mike Perham, the 17 year-old from England who is vying to become the youngest person to ever have sailed around the world alone and unassisted will transit the Panama Canal during the day tomorrow from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Mike has been delayed in Panama for a couple of weeks due to damage in his rigging. He needed to order replacement parts from the United States, and now that repairs have been completed he is anxious to get back on the water. He plans to go up the Western side of the Caribbean, scoot past Florida, and then out across the Atlantic and eventually home to England. You can follow Mikes progress on - if you click on the "M" on the map on that site you can see Mike's current position (which has been in the Flamenco Marina for the past couple of weeks.) You also might be able to catch his transit tomorrow on the ACP's webcams.
