Mike Perham - Blasting Through The Panama Canal
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - At 20:00 GMT (or 15:00 local) Mike Perham and his boat the totallymoney.com are making their way through the Panama Canal at a healthy 7 knots. They should clear through the Gatun Locks later this afternoon, which will put the hull of his boat into the waters of the Caribbean for the first time on this trip. I just tried to call my son on his cell phone but got no answer because they're in the middle of the canal, passing close to the famous Barro Colorado island, and are out of cell phone coverage. I'm sure he's getting some great photos and video of the transit. If you're following the transit stay tuned to the ACP's High Resolution Cameras at the Gatun Locks.
