Vasquez Promises to Defeat Francisco for Arboleda

Sports SectionBy Rey Danseco for Boxingscene.com - FORMER two-time world champion Roberto “La Araña” Vasquez of Panama has promised to making a great fight by beating fellow world rated Drian “Gintong Kamao” Francisco at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on Oct. 3. At the wake of his fellow Panamanian boxing hopeful, Jose “Maco” Arboleda, Vasquez declared that he will dedicate his victory in his Philippine debut to his fallen friend. The Vasquez-Francisco collision will be for the vacant WBA International super flyweight title. The winner of this bout may be set up for a world title fight. "It’s unfortunate that we lost a friend and a potential world champion. That’s why I promise to him to work hard and then win in the Philippines against Francisco,” said Vasquez who is ranked No. 8 compare to No. 6 of Francisco, in Spanish. Arboleda was one of the two passengers who died at the scene when his bus involved in a crash recently in Panama. Three people were killed and 30 were injured when one the buses overturned on the roads leading to the Kuna Nega neighborhood towards the Centennial Bridge. The accident occurred when the driver tried to close the door while driving and lost control of the bus. Arboleda died from internal hemorrhages at the Santo Tomas Hospital. Vasquez is training in Panama City while Francisco is working out at The Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Barangay Subic, Agoncillo, Batangas. Earlier, Francisco predicted a knockout win inside six rounds. He said, Vasquez is open for a hook in the right side of the face and his body remains a suspect.
