About 900 Firearms Lost or Stolen in 2009

Crime & PunishmentThe director of the Direction of Judicial Investigation, Javier Carrillo, said about 900 firearms were reported as lost or stolen in 2009. Carrillo was concerned, because these weapons are being used by criminals to commit crime. He called on judicial authorities to be more forceful with cases in which the use of a stolen firearm is detected. (Source - La Critica)

About 900 or is it 1,000 weapons or more!

Which is it?

Did National Police lose them and/or miss counted again?

It looks like every thing else here in Panama, they were lost or re-stolen by those in charge?

Just how many weapons?

What type?

What about the ammunition for these confiscated weapons?

Since all weapons and all ammunition have a very restricted import policy, where and how where these weapons registered and sold?

Since all the weapons have serial numbers, most if not all of these gun owners should now know where their confiscated weapons are within the Police bureaucracy?

Can any one within the National Police check the weapons serial numbers for ownership and/or country of origin?

Panama has a very large gun toting criminal epidemic, most of it being committed with Police style Revolvers with four and six inch barrels!

Over two hundred and fifty Police style Revolvers known to be confiscated last year!

Where did all these Revolvers come from?

They Revolvers are not usually issued by the military in other countries or used by terrorist groups!

Latin America like the rest of the known world use semi automatic pistols!

So, where did all these Police style Revolvers come from?
