Police Seize 1.5 Tons of Weapons in Dolega

Boquete, Chiriqui - The National Police seized about a ton and a half of military weapons in a bunker located in a rented residence in the community of El Francés, in Dolega, in Panama's Chiriquí province. Among the weapons seized were AK-47 assault rifles, hand grenades, submachine guns, ammunition for AK-47's, explosives and TNT, mortar rounds, rifle scopes, propellant for PRG-7 grenade launchers, bayonets, among others. The seizure was achieved through "Operation Compa" that developed over ten days of surveillance and monitoring, officials said. It was learned that one foreigner was arrested in association with this weapons seizure. (La Prensa)
Editor's Comment: The drug war is a "real" war. The cocaine goes North, and the money (and weapons) go South. That's a lot of hardware - all of the stuff drug traffickers love. Anybody want to pass new gun control laws in Panama? Does this mean I can't keep my RPG-7?
