Mireya Moscoso Responds to Weeden's Accusations

Corruption Former President Mireya Moscoso reacted yesterday to the remarks of former Comptroller Alvin Weeden, who said she was fully aware of everything that happened with the approval of the Multimodal Industrial Services Center (CEMIS). "The bill was modified when in reached the full Legislature," said Moscoso, in a radio interview with RPC, and she recalled that what lawmakers approved was a second draft of the CEMIS law. Moscoso said that what is being investigated is the "bribery" of lawmakers who served during the period 1999-2004, not the management of her administration. Weeden said in an interview with La Estrella, published on Friday, he was surprised Mireya Moscoso wanted to distance herself from the case, and said she should be called to testify. Moscoso said she was willing to testify. (La Estrella)
