"Over 90% Of Our Members Survive" - Wild Bill's "Jolly Roger Social Club" in Bocas del Toro
By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - In hindsight, I bet most people never really wondered all that hard about the other 10% who supposedly didn't survive their contact with "Wild Bill" Cortez in Bocas del Toro. When I saw this the hair on the back of my neck stood up. It's quite possible that "Wild Bill" Cortez meant people to take this almost literally - like "hey, come and play where the bodies are buried." Serial killers - according to everything I've learned from watching television and movies - often do things like collect memorabilia or keepsakes as trophies from their victims. At some level they also want to get caught and they hope someone will catch them and make them stop. He apparently drew the artwork for this ad himself - look at the way he depicted his own eyes. It now looks like "Wild Bill" Cortez and his wife Jean are responsible for three murders at the very least, with a potential for dozens more. And looking back, this "90% of our members survive" line contained in this ad isn't so funny all of a sudden. This guy is a classic psychopathic serial killer - "an unfortunate fusion of interpersonal, biological and sociocultural disasters." Un-friggin' believable - this is like watching a plane wreck occur right before your very eyes in slow motion. Bill Cortez ran this ad in the Bocas Breeze;
