Did You Show "Wild Bill" and Jane Cortez Your Home?

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Here's one that will keep you up at night. Since I broke this whole story about serial killers "Wild Bill" and Jane Cortez last week, I've received dozens of emails from people saying things like "holy crap - they came to my house - I was advertising it on the Internet and they wanted to see it..." I have heard from people all over Panama - Altos del Maria, Coronado, Volcan and Boquete, Cerro Azul - and the story is always the same. The current owner or seller is always a gringo. They advertised their property for sale on the Internet. They were contacted by "Wild Bill" and Jane who came to see the property.
Filtering For Victims: So far investigators know of at least seven properties that "Wild Bill" and Jane Cortez acquired by killing the previous owners in Panama. The fear is that there are probably more which have not yet been identified or reported. According to Panama's Deputy Attorney General Angel Calderon who is responsible for managing the investigation of this case on a national and international level, "if anyone has any information which could potentially lead us to other possible victims, I would ask those people to please come forward with that information immediately." "Wild Bil" and Jane Cortez were profiling their potential victims. They wanted people who were running from the law (like the Brown family) or who didn't have a wife or kids with them (like Bo Icelar.) They "screwed up" when they murdered Cher Hughes - which eventually lead to their arrest. (more)
Interesting Anecdotes - But Not Important: Now that these serial killers have been captured many people are more willing to talk than before. People are still very scared and nervous, and who wouldn't be when dealing with a pair of deadly psychopathic multinational serial killers. The authorities want information that will lead them to finding the bodies of the Brown family, as well as the two workers who are also missing. They want to know if there are any more victims out there. But, if you met these people, had a drink with them or whatever, then that's "low value" information at this point. Right now the focus is on the really big and important questions and not all of the "fill in the blank" details.
Disappearing Neighbors? No one ever filed a missing persons report for the Brown family. Someone supposedly filed a missing persons complaint for Bo Icelar, however I still have not seen that report, and the DIJ in Bocas del Toro said they don't have it, so now I'm starting to wonder if one was ever actually filed at all. If you know of anyone who just went missing one day, and the next day their property is all of a sudden "owned" by "Wild Bill" and Jane Cortez, then please let the authorities know. There are reportedly dozens of members of the community of English speaking expatriates missing in Costa Rica who have never been found. That's why "Wild Bill" and Jane Cortez could live as millionaires. They kill people, steal their property, sell it, and move on. Until yesterday, that is...
