Panama Hosts Anti Drug Intelligence Conference

Panama was selected to hold the First International Anti Drug Congress, developed by the Regional Anti Drug Intelligence Community of the School of the Americas (ERCAIAD). The Congress aims to establish an alliance to exchange knowledge and information to unite efforts to tackle the common enemy: drug trafficking. In this important conference Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Panama are participating. Those present at the seminar will be instructed in knowledge of advanced surveillance techniques, and the lessons learned will be implemented by the teams of anti drug intelligence agents. The opening ceremony was attended by the Lic. Rafael Parada, representative of the Organization of American States (OAS) and Colonel Osvaldo Aragón, the President of the ERCAIAD school. Also present were officials of various law enforcement authorities. Representing the Panama National Police is Commissioner Edward Serracín, Deputy Director General, who said that there is great interest to combat this scourge. (Panama America)
