Government Office Workers Overcome By Fumes

Healthcare On Wednesday night a group of government employees who work for the Comptroller General of the Republic were affected by a disinfectant being used to clean the office where the data is being tabulated from the recent Census of Population and Housing. More than a dozen employees were inside the office when some of them started to show signs of possible poisoning, the most affected, particularly from respiratory failure, were transferred to the Hospital Complex of the Social Security office. In a press release the Comptroller reported that of the 10 staff members who were taken to the hospital, four remain hospitalized under medical observation and the rest were discharged. To assess the situation, staff of the Ministry of Health conducted an inspection at the offices, located in the area of Curundu. (Telemetro Reporta)

Editor's Comment: Someone on the cleaning staff mixed together some solvents, disinfectants, and who knows what else - "hey, I bet this will clean real good..." The result gave of toxic gases that almost killed a bunch of people. I bet my dad will read this and start naming off the most common chemicals and what was probably mixed. He knows all that stuff off the top of his head. Smart guy, my dad. I call it "stuff" and I'm sure he will tell me the real name is "monosulfurnastywackoyourescrewedmonglamate" or whatever...
