Troubleshooting Technical Problems on the Website

What is PG?By DON WINNER for - Just a quick heads up. On Thursday, 20 January 2011, I worked into the afternoon in the office, publishing articles as normal, and then later that afternoon I took off for Playa Blanca to spend a long weekend at the beach with my wife and daughter. A friend had loaned us the use of his apartment in the Founder's 1 building, and the apartment was outfitted with wireless Internet access, so I hauled my "mobile office" with me (laptop, wireless keyboard and mouse, digital camera, video camera, USB expansion ports, etc.) My plan was to relax at the beach for awhile, and once the swimming, sand, sun, and fresh air had worn my daughter out, to get some work done on the website.

Well, it turned out that the wind had blown down a wall decoration and smacked the wall plug in the apartment and damaged the RJ-45 jack. To make a long story short - the Internet in the apartment didn't work. Then on Friday afternoon I started getting phone calls and email from Panama-Guide users reporting "Internal Server Error" messages when trying to access the website. Something happened to the server on Friday, and as of right now (Monday morning) the technicians at my hosting service are still trying to fix the problem.

Anyway, thanks for your concern. My apologies for any inconveniences caused. Hopefully by later today the problems with the website will be fixed, and everything will get back to "normal." And, it looks like I'll be doing an upgrade to the basic underlying software that runs the website this afternoon as well, so there might be some ups and downs while I tweak the switches. Anyway, I should have it all worked out by the end of the day today. That's the plan, anyway - let's see how it goes.
