Martinelli Traveling To Peru To Attend Ollanta Humala's Inauguration

Panama NewsThe president, Ricardo Martinelli, accompanied by first lady Marta Linares de Martinelli will travel this afternoon to the city of Lima, Peru to participate in the inauguration of the new president of Peru, Ollanta Humala, said the Ministry of Communication of the State. Martinelli reiterated Panama's interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Peru, after both countries signed a free trade agreement last May could take effect in the coming months. Prior to the inauguration, to be held on Thursday, July 28, Martinelli will participate in an official dinner offered by the outgoing President Alan Garcia on Wednesday 27 in honor of the Heads of State and Government who are attending. Vice President and Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Varela will also attend the inauguration of Humala. Presidents from eleven South American countries will be in attendance, plus the presidents of Guatemala, Álvaro Colom and Honduras, Porfirio Lobo. The Prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbon also confirmed his attendance. (Panama America)
