The director of the Consumer Protection Authority (ACODECO), Pedro Meilan, said they found 21 companies selling cement building blocks lacking the required size and of substandard quality. This detection resulted in a fine of $34,000 dollars applied against the people responsible for the distribution of materials in the country. Many people call these "meringue" blocks, because they offer little resistance and they fall apart easily. (Dia a Dia)
