Panama Gets Four Tsunami Warning Buoys

Earthquakes#Panama - The Director of Operations of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), Javier Castillo, said they have acquired four floating buoys, apparatus used as part of the Tsunami warning protocol. He said two of these devices will be placed in the Atlantic and two in the Pacific. He added that although Panama has a favorable geographical position, it is advisable to carry out monitoring for the possibility of a tsunami warning. The gauges are instruments used to measure or record sea level fluctuations such as tides. They are usually placed at the entrances to ports and are part of measurement networks in oceanography.
