Just Like That - The Italian Radar Contract Drops By $81 Million Dollars
There's a new surprise in the scandal over the purchase of radar and other equipment from the Italian company Finmeccanica. The Minister of Economy, Frank De Lima, dismissed without explanation $81 million dollars from the contract. He said the actual amount of the agreement is for $252 million dollars, not $333 million, as had been reported so far. The difference is $81 million dollars, a figure that approaches the alleged over payments that have been denounced in this case, which is also being investigated by the Italian congress, starting a few days ago. Despite all the doubts, uncertainties and suspicions about the issue, Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino wrote on his Twitter account on Friday morning that he "will not resign" and he also said the agreement would not be suspended. Editor's Comment: So, just like that, a government contract drops from $333 million to $252 million dollars? And, no explanation? Well obviously, those were the bribes that are now not going to be paid. Yeah! Savings! See, every cloud has a silver lining. Sometimes gold. Sometimes greenbacks. Sometimes offshore accounts managed by third parties for a fee, but hey, you're not supposed to know about that one...
