Lance Armstrong the Ironman Triathlete
Will Lance Armstrong ever win an Ironman Triathlon? The much-awaited appearance of Lance Armstrong in the world of triathlon is about to take place on February 12, 2012 as he answers the starting gun at Ironman Panama 70.3. This is not simply a story of a top-level athlete of one sport trying another sport on a whim. This is nothing like Michael Jordan trying his hand at baseball just because. If anything, triathlon was the spring-board that launched Lance's pro cycling career as he was a champion triathlete long before he was a champion cyclist.
This is much more than a one-shot deal for Lance. His triathlon race schedule also includes Ironman Nice 70.3, Ironman Texas 70.3, and the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in the Fall of 2012.
Will Lance win his first Ironman 70.3 in Panama City? It's doubtful but certainly not impossible. There are several pros like TJ Tollakson, Romain Guillaume, Balazs Coske, and Chris Lieto to name a few who might have some say on race-day. (examiner.com)
