Many New Hotel Rooms Available - Forcing Rates Down

HotelsThe hotels in the country have been growing in recent years. The hotel chains are joined by suites, aparta-hotels, independent hotels and hostels. The entry of the new hotels to the market not affiliated with chains is forcing down the average nightly rate in Panama City. The hoteliers are saying the average rate is currently at $120 per night, and in the last year the average has dropped by $10 dollars. This ultimately benefits the consumer, because they have more options to choose according to their budget. (Prensa)

Editor's Comment: I expect this downward pressure on hotel rates to both continue and increase. There are thousands of new hotel rooms entering the market, and there are now more hotels than demand. Therefore, the hotels will be competing for the existing clients - so it's a great time to shop around, ask for discounts, and negotiate for specials, bargains, and upgrades.

Many New Hotel Rooms Available - Forcing Rates Down

Hi, I called Westin Playa Bonita in PC this morning, and they said the room for Garden view is $287 and Ocean view is $305 per night for a guest room, are they asking too much? Where can I find similar class hotel room for a more reasonable price in PC for March?

Thanks,
