Editor's Comment: There has been a gang war raging in the area of Rio Abajo for months. These guys control turf that's measured in just a few blocks, from here to there. And they are fighting over control of the local drug trafficking trade. These "kids" are adolescents, teenagers, and young men who are armed, dangerous, and who do the drugs they sell. Having grown up on the tough streets of Rio Abajo, they really don't give a crap about very much, most of them are armed with illegal handguns, and they will kill one another (members of rival gangs) or anyone else who gets in their way. A few weeks ago this guy - Javier Ortega - was down on the street talking to a television camera when a couple of thugs came up and threatened him on camera, with their faces covered. Then the other day this government bus was shot up. Like I said, Rio Abajo is a tough neighborhood. Best avoided completely, or if you must go then do so only during daylight hours and stick to the main streets. Don't go wandering around the neighborhoods at night, unless you want to get killed.
