Disappearance of Yvonne Lee Baldelli Now Considered A Murder - Case Elevated To Superior Prosecutor in Chiriqui
The Second Superior Prosecutor of Chiriqui will continue the investigation into the disappearance of the American Yvonne Lee Baldelli, who lived in Bocas del Toro. The investigation of this case began under the auspices of the Personality (local prosecutor) of Bocas del Toro, and is now considered a murder, said the Second Superior Prosecutor Nedelka Diaz. She confirmed they have not yet received the results of the DNA tests that were done at the scenes of the investigations. Yvonne Lee Baldelli arrived in Bocas del Toro at the end of September 2011 with her boyfriend Brian Brimager, and she has not been seen since 26 November 2011. (Critica)
Editor's Comment: Good. Finally. I asked the Public Ministry to do this on 20 March 2012, now almost two months ago. The local prosecutors who are scattered throughout the country, called the "Personería", are literally the lowest ranking members in the pecking order of the Public Ministry. There's no way the local guy on Isla Colon has the experience, training, resources, or capabilities to adequately or sufficiently handle this case. I recognized this immediately and advised (strongly suggested) that the case should be elevated to the Superior Prosecutor in Chiriqui. And, I'm glad to see they finally got around to getting it done.
