I've been to dozens of these things, both on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. The Boy Scouts were out in force yesterday installing thousands of American and Panamanian flags on the grave markers in the cemetery. The newly arriving US Ambassador to Panama Jonathan Farrar was the guest speaker, and this was the last ceremony for Colonel Barrack (his sixth after three years), who will be moving to his next assignment with his family in July. There was a wreath laying ceremony by all of the different Veterans and civic organizations, VFW, American Legion, Abou Saad Shriners, Elks, Navy League, the American Society, and the US Embassy, followed by the playing of Taps. Past and present members of the different branches of the armed forces were invited to stand and by recognized during a "medley" of the songs of the Army, Navy, USMC, Air Force, and Coast Guard. As usual the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3835 provided refreshments at a reception after the ceremony. Here's a video of the ceremony;
