Gay Pride 2012 Organizers Announce "Big Pink Egg" Award Nominees
Yesterday the Gay Pride Organizing Committee officially announce the nominees for the 2012 Great Pink Egg award. In case you don't know, the prize is awarded every year to the most homophobic individuals or institutions in Panamanian society. This year the nominees are Marisela Moreno, the President of the Miss Panama Organization; Ricky Dominguez, the Representative of Bella Vista; the National Police (as an institution); the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (as an institution); John Pritsiola, the Editor of the La Critica newspaper; the communicator Miguel Espino Perigault; the journalist Panangel Kouruklis, among others. In response to the announcement Moreno said "I'm not homophobic; what's more, if I win this contest it has no credibility. Anyone who knows me knows I have more gay friends than most gays themselves. This nomination does not bother me in the least," she said. (Dia a Dia)
