Customs Has Seized $539 Million Dollars Worth Of Counterfeit Goods So Far This Year
The Customs Authority has so far this year has seized $539 million dollars in counterfeit and smuggled goods (especially cigarettes and medicines) in Colon and they expect another $400 million before the end of the year. This was announced on the TVN morning news by Javier Cordoba, the Director of Customs in Colon, who said they are constantly monitoring to prevent smuggling. Cordova said this action by Customs has been recognized internationally, to the point that the World Customs Organisation will leave Brussels, Belgium for the first time to meet in Panama in August next year.
