Martinelli - Keynote Speaker at International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland

Panama NewsPresident Ricardo Martinelli participated on Tuesday in the special session of the 101st International Labor Conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, as the keynote speaker. In his speech Martinelli said in Panama there is judicial certainty and the rules of the game are very clear. He also said at the headquarters of the International Labor Organization (ILO), that in his administration they support the promotion of employment and skills development, as well as social security and the protection of workers, promoting social dialogue and tripartite. The speech was broadcast on National Radio station this morning.

Defending Achievements: While speaking at the ILO Martinelli did not stop defending the "mega projects" being built under his administration and said in Panama last year the GDP recorded a growth of more than 10.6%. The Panamanian head of state also praised that his government has been made to ratify a number of Free Trade Agreements which will open the way to new markets in Asia, Europe, and the United States. In his speech, part of which was posted on the website of Radio Panama, Martinelli said the fight against corruption strengthens the participation of local partners, and the use of social dialogue mechanisms is important for policy, especially in times of great tension. The Government sees dialogue as an opportunity to find balanced solutions, said Martinelli.

He reiterated, as on other occasions, that the country had people who would not pay taxes and some still refuse to pay, but "I am optimistic and work for the development of the country," he said. Finally, Martinelli invited those present to come to Panama to experience first hand the achievements. (Prensa)
