Editor's Comment: Martinelli said "fuck it" and went all in. In the same week he appointed three new Supreme Court justices to the controversial Fifth Chamber, allowed for the sale of state owned shares of stock in both the telecommunications and electrical companies (also controversial), and now he's also adding on some other bits and pieces regarding the sales of banana plantations, adjusting the criminal code, and who knows what else. Hey, why not? He's already caused the Panameņistas and PRD to join forces - and I'm sure both Omar Torrijos and Arnulfo Arias are rolling over in their graves. The opposition is going to be pulling out all stops this week to cause every conceivable kind of noise and protest, so it sort of makes sense for Martinelli to "pile on" whatever else is laying around, to add to the bonfire that's already burning. In short, the opposition literally can't get any more pissed, so screw it - might as well go all the way. You can expect an exceptionally goofy week coming up. It's going to get even more weird and strange than normal, and that's saying something with this crew in charge. I get the feeling that Martinelli finally threw off his handlers and busted out, doing what he's been wanting to do for a very long time.
