Perez Balladares and Doens Cited To Testify In CEMIS Case

CorruptionAbel Zamorano, the prosecutor responsible for the investigation into the scandal over alleged bribes paid to Deputies in the National Assembly to approve the CEMIS in 2002, again summoned the former president Ernesto Perez Balladares and the secretary general of the PRD, Mitchell Doens to testify in the case. Judicial sources said Zamorano cited Perez Balladares to appear on Monday June 25 Perez Balladares, and the following day, Tuesday 26, Doens. Both citations are related to two recordings provided by Perez Balladares in 2009 to the Public Ministry, in which the former PRD lawmaker Manuel De la Hoz and Deputy Carlos Afu CD giving their versions about the bribes. Both Perez Balladares and Doens had been cited to appear last week for the same reason, but they were not notified in time. Deputy Afu, the only defendant in the CEMIS case so far, went last Thursday to meet this legal process. (Prensa)
