Is There Any Place To Get Good, Fresh Raw Oysters in Panama City?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe Patio Mexicano by PowerClub in El Cangrejo markets themselves as an Oyster Bar.

Fresh oyster in Panama, you must be joking. Oyster must be eaten alive and they are from colder waters that Panama. Frosen oyster are like the defrosen shrimps sold in panama fish market....they stink.

Oysters in Panama come from the Darien,
but I've never had them in the shell.
They're available in the Mercado de Mariscos
at Nino's stand in the center of the main building
and maybe other stands. I've always had them cooked.

I dont know if this helps you. But about 35 yrs ago I used to go to what is known as the "French Cut" by way of Cocoli. You can free dive for oysters in the French Cut. they are not as big but still delicious. Sometimes you can get them at the fish Market. Speak to the Locals theyll steer you in the right direction.

You can get fresh oysters just before the turn off to Sabana Grande past Chitre on the main road. I buy them all the time. $2 a bag already shucked. I buy 10 to 20 bags at a time. They freeze well. I have also bought them in my home town of Lajamina out in the sticks just before Pedasi. They are oysters and they are good. Some people don't know it but you can get fresh Scallops from Panama waters too. I don't see them in the market anywhere but have gone out and gotten them near Taboga Island back in the 1960's. You have to know where they are and you have to drag a buckets to get them.

I bought some on the street that exits the panamerica highway just before the new mall near viste alegre past chorreo. Just down the street from the fish market that is in the same street, They a little milky but fresh with pretty good flavor. I am from New Orleans so I am youst to eating Gulf Oysters. These aint those by a long shot!
