Electoral Prosecutor Says There's No Evidence Of Wrongdoing in El Bebedero Election

PoliticsThe Electoral Prosecutor Dilia Cornejo, who held a random sampling yesterday, with the selection of 20 random people to see if there was any event that could have affected the elections on 4 December 2011 in El Bebedero in Tonosí. This is the second sampling they have performed, after they decided to expand the first one done nearly two months ago. Electoral prosecutors are investigating the possibility of an electoral offense over the alleged use of state assets, denounced by the opposition candidate Dario Saavedra. After the process yesterday, the Electoral Prosecutor for the central provinces said so far there was not sufficient evidence or merit to indicate any irregularity, but it will be up to the electoral criminal judge to decide the case. Meanwhile, the Justice of the Peace of the area, Juan Andres Ortiz, broke his silence and accused the opposition Partido Revolucionario Democratico (PRD) party of the abandonment of the township. He said they have not received any funds to help the community, "everything is paralyzed and the people have been forgotten." (TVN)
