Martinelli Doesn't Know About Demetrio Papadimitriu's Resignation
The Panamanian president Ricardo Martinelli said this Friday, July 13, that he doesn't know about the reported resignation of the Minister of the Presidency, Demetrio Papadimitriu. During an official ceremony in Sixaola, Martinelli said this morning he left his residence and went directly to the airport to travel to the province of Bocas del Toro. There, together with the president of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla, he inaugurated the new bridge over the river Sixaola.
Presidential spokesman Luis Eduardo Camacho, who is accompanying Martinelli on this trip to Bocas, said he doesn't know anything about the supposed resignation. "We have not seen any of that [the resignation]," said Camacho.
Papadimitriu, one of the people closest to the President, had resigned unexpectedly, according to a report in the La Estrella newspaper. So far there there has been no official confirmation. (Prensa)
Editor's Comment: OK, there are only two options. The first is that La Estrella has been had, and they fooled all of us as well, and the resignation is a hoax. I don't think that's the case. Rather, I suspect Demetrio "Jimmy" Papadimitriu actually did resign, and he's probably really (really) pissed off at Martinelli - so if it looks like he doesn't know what's going on - then all the better.
