TVN Journalists Absolved Of Any Wrongdoing (Sentence Handed Down)

Law & LawyersBy DON WINNER for - The three journalists who work for the channel 2 TVN television news station who were brought up on charges of defamation have been acquitted. The judge in the case issued sentence Number 13 of 17 July 2012, handing down an acquittal in favor of the journalists Siria Miranda, Kelyneth Perez and Eduardo Lim Yueng. The original charges revolved around a videotape taken by a citizen and delivered to TVN, in which a traffic police officer apparently received a cash bribe in order to let someone go without a ticket. When they aired the tape, the Director of Traffic Operations at the time said the National Police would be initiating an investigation into the actions of the police officer. However - unbelievably - the bribe taking police officer then filed criminal charges against the three journalists, alleging they had defamed him for having showed the tape of him in the act of receiving a bribe. With this decision the journalists have been absolved of any wrongdoing in this case.

Editor's Comment: And the fucking traffic cop? Has he been fired? Now that this gambit to turn the journalists into the offenders has not worked, the obvious question remains. What ever happened to the cop?
