Martinelli Wants The UN To Take Over The Internet

Internet & TechnologyDuring his speech before the Connect the Americas Summit, taking place in Panama, President Ricardo Martinelli announced he would propose to the United Nations (UN) a global regulation of the IP numbers in publications for or against any person or organization through the Internet. Martinelli said there are people who are currently engaged in denigrating others through identity theft, without any control, and without the possibility of knowing who is responsible for those comments. "They are destroying the reputations of countries, individuals and families unfairly and necessary. It is very important that this wildness that exists in this moment, be controlled, such as child pornography," he said.

The Panamanian leader advocates that there be some mechanism that can identify those responsible for each post or comment made through the internet. He also proposed that each publication has a life span. "As global citizens we all have a responsibility to know who is speaking for and against in a mass medium like the Internet, and must have an expiration date for all things that are written for and against ... we will be guilty by omission if we don't do anything about it." (Telemetro)

Editor's Comment: Hoo boy. There's no doubt about, Ricardo Martinelli is a control freak. The one thing he can't control is the Internet. And if he knew anything at all about how IP addresses work, I would know two things. First of all, it's not controlled by the UN. Secondly, his plan won't work so by simply proposing such a thing it he looks woefully ignorant. The "expiration date" concept is interesting. Martinelli doesn't like the fact that once an article or element if information is published on the Internet, it's there forever. He apparently wants things to go away, so people will forget them. Yeah, controlling the minds of others. Controlling the Internet, Controlling the use of IP addresses. These are the things of dreams for control freaks. Wow. I mean, really. Is this the kind of stuff we can expect in the post-Papadimitriu world? Next, maybe a proposal to abolish the color orange? I hear he doesn't like orange...

Clearly he does not understand the depth and composition of the INTERNET. He also may not understand what an IP address is and how it can be easily spoofed and so his enforcement concept would never fly. Part of this concern shows he wants to control the incoming and current publications that spread false rumors.. what president doesn't but as Panama is evolving into a big - little country, his Presidency should afford a Ministry of Electronic Communication that he could task with starting his own Web site that could be his mechanism for countering any false claims against him or his staff. He will never be able to stop anyone from saying untrue or slanderous things about him or his policy but he can control the public perception about him directly and give the public the tools to come check it out from his perspective... He could advertize it to be a ' come here for the real story from El Presidente himself'. I think he needs a gringo retiree to run that post, he could make him / her a Citizen first and provide a nice salary and a staff. I wonder who could that be? LOL

Martinelli doesn't control the internet so it is not in his personal interest to use this as a way to censor his actions. There is a bigger agenda at work here. Martinelli is a globalist puppet as evidenced by his regular attendance at Davos each year. The globalists want to take control of political processes from elected officials and hand it over to non elected bodies like the UN that they control absolutely. This is an ongoing intiative which if implimented will remove one of our last vestiges of Free Speech. Panama, is not alone in promoting this. Rather than put the politicans into the fire over this controversial issue they divert the attention to the UN which on the surface is benign and does not appear to have a political agenda.
Another globalist initiative is to put nations on a huge spending spree so that they are indebted to the bankers. Just look at all the public infrastructure projects in Panama. Once the country is in hawk up to it's eyeballs it has to make concessions to the IMF and World Bank, both Globalist Institutions. The globalists are interested in unrestricted access to Panama's politicans and resources.
John Perkins talks about this very scenario in his book "Confessions of an Economic Hitman". As an example Perkins talks about General Torrijos who would not play ball with the globalists and look at what happened to him.

WOW not a very intelligent remark coming from a President of a Country. As for the UN, they are the
last group one would want to do anything. Look at their record, especially recently with their New
organization for Human Rights wanting to appoint Chavez and the President of Sudan, wanted by the UN
for Crimes against Humanity....where is reality??

Why would it be surprising that the President should sound any more ignorant about the basic operation of the internet infrastructure than do the sales and service people at Cable and Wireless ? Based on the information I have received from C&W about basic internet issues, Martinelli is a freakin' genius.
