SINAPROC Reports On Storm in Las Tablas Area

WeatherHeavy rain with winds over 24 knots today blew the roofs off of several houses in Mensabe, La Enea de Guararé, and La Candelaria, and uprooted trees in Pocrí - all in the province of Los Santos, said the director of the National Civil Protection System, Arturo Alvarado. He said also in the port of Mensabe people reported the sinking of several boats, but so far there have been no reports of injuries and he could not specify the number of people affected. The gale occurred in those areas of the province of Los Santos, while the SINAPROC and the Ministry of Agricultural Development coordinated assistance to farmers and residents who have been affected by the drought in other parts of the province of Los Santos. Alvarado said he will move now to the affected areas, and also the Minister of Housing and Zoning, Jose Domingo Arias, decided to send a crew to check the status of those affected. (TVN)
